For your general information only.
This is a common problems for mothers that seek advice from a GP or Lactating consultant. Are you finding it hard to find a comfortable feeding position? Is your baby suffering from latching on or suckling problems? The problem can be due to tounge-tie or a result of the compression of a nerve feeding the tounge and mouth at the back of the skull and neck. This compression can be due to many factors including the natural resistance from the birth canal, womb positioning, use of forceps / ventouse.
Osteopaths are able to give you postural advice related to breastfeeding. Camilla (although I'm not a Lactation Consultant) as a fellow mother who breastfeed two children one of whom had Tongue Tie is also happy to share common breastfeeding positions that I found helpful and advice to those who are unsure if their child has tongue tie.
