Suffering from back pain can have a big impact on your everyday routine, making you feel as though you are unable to carry out normal activities such as walking, sitting, sleeping, sport or work. With the right guidance and treatment and exercise rehabilitation from an osteopath at Back & Active Osteopaths Belsize Park (NW3), most people with back pain can recover. See our Testimonials.
Back pain affects about 4 in 5 people sometime in their life. It can occur at any time but is most common after 35 years of age. Back Pain can last hours to months or even years. Back and Active Osteopaths, Belsize Park (Nw3) can help you with your back pain by finding the cause of the pain and treating that as well as the resulting back pain and rehabilitating the area with our on site functional trainer equipment.
Your back is made up of bones that are stacked like blocks (the vertebrae which protects your spinal cord) and muscles. The spinal cord runs down the middle, and between the vertebrae nerves extend from the spinal cord to the left and right. Disks act as spongy shock absorbers by sitting between the vertebrae. Several layers of muscle cover the back, and ligaments and tendons support the vertebrae, supporting posture and giving the body movement and flexibility. Damage to any one of these structures can cause Back Pain. Back Pain can also be caused from referred pain from elsewhere or postural problems e.g. pes planus (flat feet). See Orthotics. Back pain can be caused by a more serious underlying condition but is less likely and our osteopaths would ask investigatory questions to identify and try an eliminate this.
